About This Spot

Stepping into New Laos Kitchen feels like entering a warmly familiar neighborhood nook where the hum of quiet conversations blends with the inviting aroma of slow-simmered broths and fragrant herbs. The space embodies a relaxed, unpretentious beat—a place where time slows just enough to savor subtle layers of flavor and connection without rush.

Here, the atmosphere encourages you to pause and discover the nuances of Laotian cooking, a cuisine that reveals itself through thoughtfully prepared soups, vibrant salads, and hand-crafted wings that carry both spice and comfort. The modest exterior and straightforward dining room hint at a deeper richness within, where authenticity is found not only in the food but in the care of those who prepare and serve it.

Visitors often find themselves drawn to dishes that feel familiar yet refreshingly distinct—noodle soups with soothing, aromatic broths, or papaya salads that balance tang and heat with just the right touch. The slow pace of meal preparation becomes part of the experience, signaling freshness and attention to detail rather than hurry. Pairing a rich Thai coffee with cool coconut water—a thoughtful local ritual—adds a quietly satisfying close to the meal.

More than a place to eat, New Laos Kitchen serves as a gentle reminder that authentic moments often happen in casual, everyday settings. It’s a spot where neighbors gather to share a taste of home and newcomers come with curiosity, both leaving with a fuller appreciation for the warmth of Laotian hospitality nestled right here in Sacramento.

I've always, ALWAYS wanted to come here for years, but never had cash on me. I finally got to try back in September with a few family members. The best kasoy I ever had. The papaya and beef laib it the spot. Everything about the food was perfect. I will definitely be back.

Super tasty Laotian food! We wanted pho but then was suggested to get the kasoy since we can get pho anywhere else. First time having kasoy and it was so tasty!!! Super recommend the kasoy!

At the off time of 4pm, the shop is not too busy and we got seated quickly. We ordered ka soy, papaya salad, lao sausage, and kao piak. The menu is not too big, which made it easy to order. My favorite was the lao sausage and the papaya salad had the right amount of flavor. The outside of the shop is a bit rough but parking is fine. Just mind your business and go in for some good food.

This is as authentic as it gets. I’ve tried beef laap from at least 5 different restaurants and this is by far the best tasting laap I’ve ever had. Also tried their Laos jerky and I gotta say…wow! I’ll be coming back again!!!

I’ve lived in the area for 5 years and recently discovered this place. I kick myself everyday because omg I’d be here all the time!! I’ve had several dishes here but my top two are the Kapoon and Chicken Laap. I also like to get coconut water and Thai coffee n mix em ;) Staff is always super nice, ambience is clean and chill, food always takes a bit but that’s why it’s always so good. I’ve even brought family and friends in and they’re always satisfied. Can’t wait to dine in again

Lao’s Kitchen has the BEST klagfen in town! Hands down! It’s been really difficult to find good quality klagfen with a good amount of spice. I highly recommended!
